Hi, my name is Jane and my business is called Pencil Pen Paper.
I live in Newcastle in the beautiful Hunter Region of New South Wales on the east coast of Australia.
I create unique and original artworks using my favourite mediums – paper and pencil and make hand-cut papercut artworks and pencil portraits using artists’ quality materials.

Papercut Works
I create works using various art papers and a variety of craft knives. By exploring line, form, light, shade, layering and texture, I therefore aim to portray the subject in an interesting way. Each work is individually drawn and hand-cut so each piece is entirely unique.
Pencil Works
For pet portraits I reference your favourite photograph or photographs of your pet(s). I love to draw your pet’s portrait in a way that captures their essential character and spirit. As a result I create a memento for you to treasure now and in the future. With house/building portraits I can reference the building either from your photographs, my own photographs, or by referencing publicly available images depending on the subject and its location.
Artist’s Statement
I have always loved drawing and creating art works from paper. The medium of aper offers a myriad of options for creating and making. Such a simple and available material with so many possibilities, so much potential for creativity !
Memories can be captured and preserved on paper. Furthermore, whether complex or simple in construction, paper art works showcase the play of light and shade and their interaction with shape, form, and volume. They can be figurative, abstract, decorative, illustrative; densely coloured through to almost transparent; a multitude of tones, shades and textures; robust to delicate.
